Product thinking + engineering execution

You started
building.
Now you're stuck.

Built by ONO helps founders, operators, and small teams get unstuck — upgrading what exists or building what's next, guided by decades of tried and true product management and C-level technical expertise.

Ship it. Make things better. Stay human.

The shift

Building got easy.
Decisions didn't.

01

Building is cheap now

Cursor, Claude, Lovable, Figma Make. A solo builder can ship in a weekend what used to take a team of five six months.

02

But nobody's deciding what to build

Fast shipping isn't the same as right shipping. A lot of what's getting made right now didn't need to exist, and it shows.

03

Judgment is the bottleneck

Most teams we meet aren't stuck on code. They're stuck on which problem to solve, which tradeoff to take, which feature to cut.

Building has never been easier. Knowing what to build has never mattered more.
We help with the second part.

How we work

Loop before
you leap.

Shipping fast is easy to fake. A working product is not. We work in short loops so we're always building toward something real instead of racking up commits.

O

Observe

Before we touch code, we spend time understanding who you're building for, what they actually need, and where the real bottlenecks are. The problem you hired us for is usually not the problem we end up solving.

N

Navigate

Decide what to build, what to cut, and what order to do it in. This is the part AI is bad at. We're good at it.

O

Optimize

Ship something small, watch how it behaves with real people, fix what's broken, repeat. Most of our engagements don't have a finish line — they have a rhythm.

Track record

What we've
delivered.

50M+ Voters served by tech we led
100+ Domains migrated without a blip
Quietly Sites rescued from active hacks
Internal apps For large commercial real estate developers

Our clients include national nonprofits, civic tech organizations, and mission-driven companies. They collectively manage tens of millions in grant funding, expand access to healthcare, get out the vote, and work to improve the health of our planet.

We don't name most of them publicly. Keeping clients secure is part of the job.

What we help with

Where are you right now?

We work in two modes — depending on what you need.

Upgrade what you have

Your site or product exists. Something's not working — or you know it could be better, but you're too close to see it clearly.

  • Outdated or underperforming website
  • Messy MVP that needs a real foundation
  • Weak UX costing you conversions or trust
  • Performance, security, or stability issues
  • AI integration where it actually adds value

Build what you need next

You have an idea — or the start of one. You need someone who can think through it with you and then actually build it.

  • From concept to working prototype
  • Product direction and prioritization
  • Rapid build with real architecture behind it
  • AI-assisted tooling built around your workflow
  • Ongoing product partnership after launch

Human in the loop

The part AI
can't do.

AI writes working code in minutes. What it can't do is tell you whether the code solves the right problem, or warn you when the elegant solution is about to fall over the first time a real user touches it.

So we sit between you and the AI. We decide what to build, catch the things it gets wrong, and make sure the result actually works for your users. We're not trying to automate ourselves out of the process — that's the whole point.

Entry offer

Product Clarity Session

2 hours · $850

Two hours on a call with us, looking at your actual product. You walk away with a specific list of what's working, what isn't, and what to do about it.

  • A plain look at what you've built (or are about to build)
  • What's broken and why
  • A prioritized list of next moves
  • Written summary of everything we covered
  • No proposal, no follow-up sales pitch

Some clients book this once and we never talk again. Some turn into longer engagements. Either works.

Selected work

Some of what we've done.

A lot of our work is under NDA or too quiet to talk about publicly. Here's what we can share.

Civic tech platform

Keeping the site up when it actually mattered

Ran technical product and infrastructure for an org whose traffic spikes to millions of users around election cycles. Our job was to make sure nothing broke on the days people needed it, not to ship more features.

Outcome Handled the spikes without a blip. Left leadership with a product roadmap they could actually follow.
Regional nonprofit network

Rescuing a domain migration that had been failing for months

Took over dozens of properties mid-migration. DNS, hosting, CMS — the whole stack, all broken in different ways, compounding on itself the longer nobody touched it.

Outcome All properties back up within 30 days. Left the team with docs so they don't need us next time.
Founder-led product relaunch

Rebuilding an MVP that worked but wasn't going anywhere

A dev shop had shipped a working product, but it wasn't getting traction. We figured out that the UX and positioning were the real problems, not the code, and rebuilt around that.

Outcome Relaunched in six weeks with a story the founder could tell without apologizing.

Let's talk

Build something
worth building.

If you're stuck, unsure, or just want a second set of eyes on what you're making, we'd love to hear from you. We read every message and reply within a day or two.

No retainer required. We'd rather earn the work than lock you in.
